I worked for the food & beverage department initially and was then transferred to be a porter. Little by little, I found myself attracted by this job. So I delivered my resumes to some small hotels in India, and after a while was employed by a local corporation. It was after I went to Australia that I was hired by Starwood Hotels & Resorts. ” Mr. Dilip Madhok has dedicated himself to Starwood for 16 years out of his 25 years’ experience in the hotel industry. What has inspired such a loyalty? To answer this question, Madhok shared his concept with us. “Every time I give an address to my new employees, I tell them that the first day is the beginning of not only their new job but also their new career. When they join us, their development will be led to a systematic and specific direction, which is beneficial for both their life and future. In my opinion, the assuming of a new office in Starwood will not only mark a milestone in their career but change their attitude towards life.” He said.

　　“This is my fifth time to open a hotel and I have selected a very vigorous team in which everyone was rigorously recruited. All of them are full of enthusiasm to their job. Besides, we have made extensive preparations before the operation and I spent three and a half months on training my staff, because I am convinced that it is significant to cultivate a group which has a strong sense of mutual trust and cooperation. Indeed, although the younger generation expects to be educated and supervised, sometimes they may be afflicted with the slightest bit of impatience in this age of materialism, paying great attention to their salary. In the contemporary society, earthshaking changes have taken place at an impressive rate; everything follows the mechanism for selecting the superior and eliminating the inferior. Hence, people always quest for the most satisfying results as quickly as possible but never waste a minute on anything infeasible or meaningless, hoping everything can develop in the way they expect but not anybody else’s.
