  Mr. Andrew Whitaker has been appointed general manager of New World Dalian Hotel.

  Mr. Andrew Whitaker has been appointed general manager of New World Dalian Hotel. Mr. Whitaker will oversee all the hotel’s operations, including finance, front office, sales and marketing, food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, human resources and security.

  Mr. Whitaker brings 18 years experience working for highly successful hospitality companies in Asia. Most recently, Mr. Whitaker was general manager of Andara Resort and Villas in Phuket, Thailand. Previously, he was general manager of Golden Sands Resort Hotel, Malaysia owned by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts and was general manager of Hong Kong’s Premier Private Family and Business Club, owned and managed by Shangri-La Hotels, from 2004 to 2008. He has held hospitality industry general manager positions for more than 12 years in Beijing, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan.

  Mr. Whitaker, a British citizen, is past vice chairman of the Hong Kong China and Macau Club Managers Association, chairman of Asian Club Managers conference 2007, and a member of the Cornell General Managers Program.

  Mr. Whitaker brings a good working knowledge of Mandarin to his new position.

  The 429-room deluxe New World Dalian Hotel is located in the heart of the city, close to Zhongshan Square, Dalian Habour and the finance district, and is a 20-minute drive from Zhou Shui Zi International Airport, three kilometres from the train station and steps away from the main offices of many overseas corporations. The hotel offers spacious and elegantly appointed guestrooms, comprehensive business services, sophisticated meeting and event facilities, and dining options ranging from local specialties to international cuisine. Recreational facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool and health club.
