　　Westin Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Verpoorten as the General Manager of The Westin Xiamen, opening in first quarter of 2012.

　　A British national, Mr. Verpoorten has over 20 years of hospitality industry experience in leading institutions and possesses an excellent understanding of Asian culture which comes from his 18 years" residence in China. Prior to the assignment in Xiamen Mr. Verpoorten was the General Manager for the Astor Hotel a Luxury Collection Hotel, Tianjin, which was Starwood Hotels first Luxury Collection branded hotel in China, and one of the oldest and most historical hotel in Asia. The hotel industry and its rapid development in China over the past two decades have offered Mr. Verpoorten a wide horizon of opportunities, including learning to speak fluent Chinese. It is without a doubt that with his great experience, language skills and leadership that he will lead his team at the Westin Xiamen to ensure that they are inspired and enthusiastic in delivering Westin’s unique “Wellness in Travel” experience to the city of Xiamen.
