  Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of Sheraton Guangzhou Huadu Resort in Guangdong, China. Owned by KWG Holding Limited, Sheraton Guangzhou Huadu Resort will now operate under the care and guidance of Starwood Hotels & Resorts and as a result of this treasured partnership, are able to unveil the first world-class international resort to open in Guangzhou.

  The opening ceremony included an official flag raising ceremony, followed by a ceremonial hand-over of the keys from Mr. Kong Jian Min, Chairman and Founder of KWG Holding Limited to Mr. Chris Tsoi, Managing Director of both the new Sheraton Guangzhou Huadu Resort and Four Points by Sheraton Guangzhou, Dongpu. A ribbon cutting and entrancing lion dance were also part of the ceremony, followed by a celebratory Champagne toast in the main lobby.

  Mr. Chris Tsoi, taking the torch from Mr. Kong Jian Min announced, “Today marks an exciting day for Guangzhou, just 45 minutes drive north from downtown and 15 minutes from Guangzhou International Airport, Sheraton Guangzhou Huadu Resort opens its doors. Guests, be they couples, families or business travelers can now easily escape from the city for an enchanting retreat at this welcoming, world-class resort. Situated in the famed Nine Dragon Lake area with panoramic views of the lake, mountains and lush gardens, there are many family activities and attractions connecting our guests to nature.” Mr. Tsoi added, “I believe with the natural environment, enchanting accommodations and warm personal service it will be a first choice resort destination for local and neighboring cities alike.”

  Sheraton Guangzhou Huadu Resort has six restaurants and lounges offering diverse culinary creations, including: Feast, an all day dining restaurant; Yue Chinese Restaurant; The soon-to-open Tea Pavilion; Lobby Lounge; The View Lounge; Pool Bar and in-room dining services are also available. Surrounded by the luscious natural foliage from the sublime mountains and lakes, it’s seven meeting rooms, one boardroom and a 486-square meter Ballroom (capable of accommodating up to 500 guests), makes it the perfect venue for weddings, small to medium sized meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions.

  “In addition, we are in the process of building a 22-acre organic farm nearby to grow our own vegetables and livestock, such as live chickens, vegetable fields, longnan, lychee trees and more for the resort’s kitchens and visitors. This is definitely the way forward towards a healthier and back-to-nature lifestyle,” new Managing Director Mr. Tsoi enthused.

  The Resort also introduces ‘Link@Sheraton™’ to its guests. The Link provides a stylishly designed communal area in the lower lobby area.   The hotel is also pleased to introduce Sheraton Fitness programmed by Core Performance.   Interior designer, Alistair Leung of Ronald Lu & Associates explains, “This project is the total integration of the site, architecture, interior and landscape, making it a unique development. The Resort offers guests a calm and sensual ambience and the design intends to emphasize the environment"s wild, open nature, and provides an intimate lodging experience for urban dwellers.”

  The project is sensitive to the environment through its careful placement of guestrooms, as well as public facilities within the picturesque hillsides. At the same time, nature is included in the site through the generous use of outdoor gardens, walkways and water features. The Resort’s landscaping was designed by Brian Kent Sherman of the famed Bensley Design Studio.

  Business or leisure travelers can enjoy all the world-famous Sheraton comforts including the signature Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed, a separate bathtub and ‘rainforest’ shower. Other features of the comfortable guestrooms, suites and villas include large windows, comfortable work space, LCD television and broadband and wireless Internet access.
