  IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has appointed a new general area manager for Victoria, Blair Roxborough.

  IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has appointed a new general area manager for Victoria, Blair Roxborough.

  Effective today, Blair will oversee the operations of four hotels within the state including InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto, Crowne Plaza Melbourne, Holiday Inn Melbourne on Flinders, and Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport.

  Blair replaces David Travers who has returned to China as area general manager responsible for a number of hotels in Beijing.

  Congratulating Blair on his appointment, IHG chief operating officer Australasia, Bruce McKenzie, said, “Blair’s leadership throughout the Christchurch earthquake disasters was testament to his dedication in ensuring the wellbeing of his colleagues and guests. I am confident Blair will add significant value in his new role and I look forward to following his future successes.”

  Blair commenced his career in hotel operations in 1984 and held various senior hotel management positions throughout Australia, Asia and New Zealand including managing Crowne Plaza Christchurch, Parkroyal Christchurch and Parkroyal Perth.

  Blair transferred from his role of area general manager of the South Island, New Zealand, a position he held with IHG for two years.

  Blair has a Bachelor of Business, Majoring in Accountancy from the Queensland University of Technology and is a former board member of Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism.

  He lives in Melbourne with his wife, Jendy, and their three daughters, Eliza, Charlotte and Ali.
