The Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to Work For list and its sister award, the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to Work For list, celebrate the best employers in the United Kingdom, based on employee’s own assessments on how they are valued and invested in by their company. This year approximately 1000 companies entered the process, and the judges received questionnaire responses from more than 275,000 employees.
“To be recognised for the fifth year running in the Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to Work For list, alongside an elite group of UK employers is a great accolade for Marriott International,” said Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International in Europe. “Our philosophy is if you take care of your associates, they will take care of the customer, and the customer will keep coming back. Our company’s enduring ‘spirit to serve’ culture provides associates an environment of teamwork, trust, and cooperation where we value the contributions of our diverse workforce. This award once again recognises our ongoing corporate commitment to be regarded by our employees and in the communities where we operate as a leading employer of choice.”
Marriott Hotels employ almost 10,000 associates in the United Kingdom. 72% of associates were quoted as saying our leaders and managers truly live Marriott’s values, with 79% also believing they can make a valuable contribution to Marriott’s success.
Associate development and training is critical to Marriott Hotels and each associate receives a personal development plan and required discipline-specific training programmes each year. Marriott also believes that being a good corporate citizen and member of the community is key to associate engagement as associates participate in annual company sponsored volunteer activities.
