Accor Appoints Chris Sedgwick Regional General Manager, QLD Hotels

　　Accor has announced the appointment of Chris Sedgwick to the role of Regional General Manager – Queensland Hotels.

　　An experienced professional, Chris Sedgwick has more than nineteen years involvement within the hospitality industry, nine of which included diverse resort operations in remote and difficult locations. Chris commenced with Accor Hospitality in 2006 as General Manager Novotel Twin Waters Resort on the Sunshine Coast before taking on the dual role of General Manager at Novotel Atrium Darwin Hotel and Regional Manager for NT/SA in 2008. Most recently he was General Manager Operations at Accor Vacation Club.

　　Prior to working for Accor, Chris held General Management and Senior Management positions with Rydges Hotels and Resorts both nationally and internationally including tenures in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, New Zealand and Thailand.

　　Of his new regional role Chris says, “It’s an exciting time to take over the reins for our Queensland hotels and I’m looking forward to steering the network into a fresh new phase. The Sunshine State is at the start of a new chapter, economically and in regards to new opportunities for tourism growth. In recent years, the industry has had challenges and some pessimism –some natural and some economic, but I’m here to highlight our strengths and am very confident that Accor’s hotels in Queensland will lead the way and perform above average market conditions in the coming year.”

　　Accor has invested significantly in its existing Queensland hotels in recent years, not least of all across the Novotel and Mercure brands, including the complete renovation of the Novotel Brisbane and Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort.

　　As Regional General Manager Chris is responsible for overseeing the operation and management of 20 hotels, resorts and apartment hotels located across the vast state of Queensland, from Coolangatta to Cairns.
