Luxury brand Bulgari has confirmed an agreement with Chinese developer the OCT Group to open a new hotel in Shanghai in 2015.

The property will be housed in the upper 12 floors of a 40-storey building designed by architectural firm Foster and Partners, located within the riverside complex OCT Suhe Creek in China’s historic Zhabei district, and overlooking Shanghai’s Pudong district.

The hotel will offer 120 rooms and suites, including a 400 sqm Bulgari suite, and will feature a mixture of contemporary and traditional Chinese architectural themes.

Facilities will include a rooftop Italian bar and restaurant, a ballroom, a 2,000 sqm spa, and a Chinese fine dining restaurant hosted in the former Chinese Chamber of Commerce, which will also house an exhibition of Chinese antiquities.

Francesco Trapani, President and CEO of the LVMH Watch and Jewellery Division, which owns the Bulgari brand, commented, “The new Bulgari Hotel in Shanghai will be another important step for the Bulgari Hotels and Resorts project and a further precious occasion of visibility in such a strategic market for luxury goods.“

A joint venture with Marriott International, Bulgari Hotel and Resorts currently operates three hotels worldwide, including the recently opened Bulgari Hotel London.
