Research Institute released the “Top 200 Global Hotel Brands (Greater China) List in August 2024.” Among them, hotel brands such as Hampton, Holiday Inn Express, InterContinental, Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Super 8, Holiday Inn, Sheraton, Marriott, and OYO ranked in the top ten of the overall list. Notably, four new hotel brands made it to the list: Fairfield by Marriott, JdV, Versace, and Cook’s Club, occupying the 56th, 105th, 160th, and 199th positions respectively. Fairfield by Marriott has shown particularly impressive performance in the past two months, quickly rising to the top 100. This not only demonstrates the brand’s strong capabilities but also indicates that the international mid-to-high-end hotel market will welcome another influential new brand.
From the brand dimension analysis: Data shows that the average index of the top 10 is 501.05, the top 100 is 258.1, and the top 200 is 204.79, with month-on-month changes of -3.65%, -3.79%, and -2.41% respectively. The overall average index has slightly weakened, with top brands showing relatively obvious trends. This is mainly due to the strong growth of local Chinese hotel brands and the reduced demand for business activities in the overall sluggish economic environment. These factors have collectively increased the operational difficulties for international hotel groups in the Chinese market, leading to reduced investment in brand promotion and weakened brand market awareness. However, reducing brand promotion is not conducive to the long-term development of hotels. In the future, international hotels still need to increase their brand promotion efforts to stand out in the fiercely competitive hotel market and achieve differentiated development.
From the group dimension analysis: 1. Number of group brands - Marriott International, Wyndham Hotel Group, Accor Group, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, InterContinental Hotel Group, Hilton Worldwide, Radisson Hotel Group, Langham Hotel Group, Louvre Hotels Group, and Banyan Group ranked in the top ten with 22, 15, 15, 11, 11, 10, 7, 5, 5, and 5 brands respectively. Additionally, Palazzo Versace and Goldman Sachs Group are the new hotel groups this month. 2. Group brand index growth - 38% showed month-on-month growth, while 62% showed a month-on-month decline.
