In July, slow charging tours during the summer vacation became popular, family study tours and vacation activities soared, and the pursuit of cool temperatures led to a boost in the accommodation market in county towns.
The Meadin Academy newly released the "Top 200 Global Hotel Brands (Greater China) Ranking for July 2026". Holiday Inn Express, Hampton by Hilton, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Sheraton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Mercure, Four Points by Sheraton, and Kyriad have all secured spots in the top ten of the list.
Key Data Interpretation:
1、Brand Dimension Analysis: The data shows that the average value of the TOP10 index is 484.60, the average value of the TOP100 index is 266.95, and the average value of the TOP200 index is 214.99. The average values of all the gradient indices have shown a slight downward trend. Among them, the proportion of brands with an index of 500 or above is 2.00%, those in the 400-500 range account for 3.50%, those in the 300-400 range make up 9.00%, those in the 200-300 range constitute 21.00%, and those in the 100-200 range account for 64.50%. Among the top ten, the index of Kyriad Hotel showed significant month-on-month growth. Kyriad, as the mid-to-high-end business travel representative of the Louvre Hotels Group under Jinjiang International, has opened new properties in cities such as Shenzhen, Fuzhou, and Dali since 2026. The continuous increase in property network density and brand exposure has driven the upward trend of its media and investment indices.
2、Group Dimension Analysis: Among the group brands, Marriott International Group, Wyndham Hotel Group, Accor Group, InterContinental Hotels Group, Hyatt Hotels Group, Hilton Hotels Group, Argyle Hotel Group, Jinjiang Radisson Hotels, Langham Hotels Group, and Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts have the highest number of entries in the top ten. This month, the number of brands that InterContinental Hotel Group has in the ranking increased by 1 (+1), and that of Hilton Hotel Group also increased by 1 (+1). It is worth noting that InterContinental Hotels Group performed exceptionally well this month, occupying four of the top five positions (Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental, Holiday Inn). Among them, InterContinental saw a 7.46% month-on-month growth in index, ranking second among the top ten brands in terms of growth rate. The InterContinental Group has accelerated its expansion in China - in the second half of 2026, new Holiday Inn Express properties in locations such as Shenzhen Bay, Shanghai North Bund Riverfront, and Beijing Daxing Xihongmen will open successively. Coupled with the entry of new brands like Garner into the Greater China region, the scale and popularity continue to rise. Group Brand Index—This month, the overall index of hotel groups showed a slight upward trend. Among them, 55.40% of the hotel groups saw an increase in index compared with the previous month, while 44.60% saw a decrease. The groups with the most significant increase were Shengzun International Hotels & Resorts (14.71%), Peninsula Hotel Group (13.75%), and Kempinski Hotel Group (12.76%). On the other hand, Walt Disney Company (-6.04%), Hyatt Hotels Group (-4.97%), and Rosewood Hotel Group (-4.37%) had more significant declines. Among them, the three Peninsula hotels in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing under the Peninsula Hotel Group simultaneously launched new dining and cultural experiences. The expansion of visa-free policies also drew a significant number of high-end inbound and business tourists back during the summer vacation. As a result, the group's performance rebounded from being the worst performer last month to ranking among the top gainers this month.

1) The "slow travel" trend during the summer vacation has gained popularity, with longer stays becoming the mainstream. According to data from Qunar, since July, the search volume for keywords related to "escaping the heat", "cooling off" and "night tours" has increased by 230% month-on-month. The booking volume for popular cities in the "20-degree cool zone" has increased by over 50% year-on-year. According to Tongcheng, the average length of trips has extended by 2.3 days compared to last year, and the search volume for special homestay accommodations has increased by 51%. The hotel industry has welcomed a group of guests who prefer "experiences" and "long stays". Consecutive-stay packages and local experience packages have become new consumption highlights.
2) The peak period for family study tours and vacation stays. High-star and theme hotels offer "accommodation + entertainment" packages. Data from Meituan shows that since July, the search interest for "family entertainment" has increased by 120% year-on-year, the "study tour" keyword has increased by nearly 46% compared with the previous month, and the "study tour summer camp" keyword has increased by 148% compared with the previous month. Nearly half of this summer's visitors are family travelers. Data from Tongcheng shows that the proportion of family tourists booking for three or more nights has increased by over 30% year-on-year. Hotels have deeply integrated family customers into "tickets + accommodation + courses" packages. High-star hotels around theme parks and cultural and historical attractions continue to be fully booked. Deep family study tours are upgrading from "a fleeting visit" to "in-depth study tour experiences".
3) The "county travel" trend and serviced apartments are gaining popularity, with counties taking on the "summer residents". According to Tongcheng data, since July, the booking popularity of "county travel" related products has increased by 63% year-on-year. Anji, Pingtan, Wuyuan, and Zhaosu are among the top summer hotspots. According to Qunar, the hotel bookings in Zherong County for the summer season have increased by more than 10 times compared to the previous year, and that in Qianshan has increased threefold. The booking growth rates in summer resort cities such as Liupanshui, Chengde, and Harbin have all exceeded 40%. The summer vacationers have driven the demand for the county's homestays and serviced apartment hotels (service apartments, short-term rental apartments) to meet the medium to long-term accommodation needs. The "migratory bird-style" travel during the summer has become a new addition to the accommodation options in the county.
