In September, leave stacking around the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day fuelled long-haul travel, autumn-chasing self-drive loops gained momentum, and county-level travel energised the count-levely accommodation market.

The Meadin Academy newly released the "Top 200 Global Hotel Brands (Greater China) Ranking for September 2026". Hampton by Hilton, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Sheraton, InterContinental, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Four Points by Sheraton, and Mercure have all secured spots in the top ten of the list.

Key Data Interpretation:

1、Brand Dimension Analysis: The data shows that the average value of the TOP10 index is 493.88, the average value of the TOP100 index is 265.46, and the average value of the TOP200 index is 214.18. The average values of all the gradient indices have shown a slight downward trend. Among them, the proportion of brands with an index of 500 or above is 2.00%, those in the 400-500 range account for 3.50%, those in the 300-400 range make up 9.50%, those in the 200-300 range constitute 19.00%, and those in the 100-200 range account for 66.00%. Among the top ten, the index of Sheraton showed relatively large month-on-month growth. As the representative of Marriott International Group's high-end full-service brand, Sheraton welcomed a wave of pre-opening promotion in September. Sheraton Shanghai North Bund Hotel and Sheraton Luoyang Hotel successively entered the countdown to opening in the fourth quarter. Related pre-launch initiatives have driven increases in both the brand media index and the investment index. Coupled with the front-loaded accommodation marketing for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, the brand's media exposure and comment volume climbed simultaneously, and the index rose sharply month-on-month.

2、Group Dimension Analysis: Among the group brands, Marriott International Group, Wyndham Hotel Group, Accor Group, InterContinental Hotels Group, Hyatt Hotels Group, Hilton Hotels Group, Jinjiang Radisson Hotels, Argyle Hotel Group, Langham Hotels Group, and Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts rank in the top ten in terms of the number of their brands on the list. This month, the number of Hilton Hotels Group's brands on the list increased by 1 (+1), and that of Langham Hotels Group also increased by 1 (+1). It is worth noting that Sheraton, under Marriott International Group, performed exceptionally well this month, with its index growing 11.92% month-on-month and ranking first among the top ten brands in terms of growth rate. Marriott International Group has accelerated its expansion in China — in September, Marriott Bonvoy successively partnered with top domestic celebrity tours, the Shanghai Rolex Masters and other top IPs, and joined hands with Didi to launch two-way member benefit interoperability, continuously extending the brand's voice. Coupled with the countdown to the fourth-quarter opening of its two flagship hotels in Shanghai North Bund and Luoyang, the pre-opening promotion pushed the media index and investment index upward simultaneously.

Group Brand Index — this month, the overall index of hotel groups showed a slight decline. Among them, 64.06% of the hotel groups saw an increase in index compared with the previous month, while 35.94% saw a decrease. The groups with the most significant increases were Fosun Tourism Group (32.47%), LUX* Resorts & Hotels (19.17%), and Anandi Hotel Management Co., Ltd. (11.51%), while Centara Hotels & Resorts (-8.94%), Argyle Hotel Group (-8.09%), and Jinjiang Radisson Hotels (-6.67%) had more significant declines. Among them, Club Med, under Fosun Tourism Group, was included in TIME's 100 Most Influential Companies 2026, becoming the only resort hotel brand on the list; at the same time, the Group became a global member of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). Combined with the front-loaded Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day marketing at Atlantis Sanya and the opening of the Club Med Urban Oasis Hangzhou Longwu Resort, the brand's media index and investment index continued to rise.

3、Key Market Trend Insights:

1) The "take 3 days off, get 13 days off" arrangement has created the longest travel window of the year, with long-haul travel and staggered travel both booming. With only 3 working days between the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, taking extra leave sparked an ultra-long holiday: data from Tongcheng shows that the search popularity of the keywords "Mid-Autumn Festival" and "National Day" increased by 278% month-on-month; Ctrip's flight orders for the two holidays increased by about 50% year-on-year, and hotel orders nearly doubled. The hotel industry has welcomed a holiday pattern of "longer stays, flatter peaks" — peak-day orders were only 1.75 times the daily average (2.4 times in 2025), and the "Golden Week" is being spent as a "Golden Season", with consecutive-stay room types and long-haul packages becoming new revenue pillars.

2) The "chasing autumn" theme has emerged, with autumn-colour destinations and self-drive loops becoming new holiday favourites. Data from CAR Inc. shows that among the top ten booking cities for the two holidays, autumn-landscape cities such as Chengdu, Urumqi, Xining, Hulunbuir, Harbin and Guiyang account for "half of the list", while bookings for lesser-known towns such as Aba in Sichuan, Datong in Shanxi, Zhangye in Gansu and Weihai in Shandong are rising rapidly, and long-haul autumn-chasing routes such as Xining-Dunhuang and Hailar-Hulunbuir have entered the popular TOP5; bookings for new-energy rental vehicles increased by more than 400% year-on-year, and bookings by post-2005 generation travellers increased 8-fold year-on-year. Autumn-view rooms, courtyard rooms, self-drive supplies and charging-pile facilities have become standard selling points of hotels' autumn marketing, and composite products combining "autumn viewing + hot springs + photography" continue to gain popularity.

3) The "county travel" trend has jumped from niche to mainstream, with county-level upscaling and deeper consecutive stays advancing together. Data from Tongcheng shows that bookings for county travel products increased 42% year-on-year, and the average length of stay in counties increased by 3.2 days; Meituan's county homestays boomed, with bookings in Hejiang County, Sichuan up 139% year-on-year and Daocheng County up 117%, and high-star hotels accelerating their expansion into counties such as Jiuzhaigou, Burqin, Jianshui and Huixian; Qunar's county hotel booking popularity increased 32%-35% year-on-year, with more than half of county visitors travelling to two or more small towns and averaging 5 days of travel. On the accommodation side, 31% of Meituan users stayed 3 days or more at a single destination, and hotel consecutive-stay orders increased 31% year-on-year; Tongcheng's share of long-stay orders of 5 days or more rose by 7 percentage points. One-stop resort models where "the hotel is the destination", such as the Zhongwei Desert Hotel and Yellow River Suji, continued to gain popularity, and county accommodation has been upgraded from an "overnight base" to a "travel residence destination".
